Objective

To provide financial incentive to the staff of the co-ops to upgrade to a Diploma or Degree level in courses relevant to the co-operative movement at any locally approved educational institution or professional certification.

Eligibility Criteria

  •  Staff of any active co-operatives who has worked in the co-op movement for at least 2 years
  •  Is not in receipt of any scholarship / bursary / financial assistance except subsidies from the Government
  •  Is not a sponsored student
  •  Applicable for full-time & part-time courses which are relevant to the objects of co-operatives (not any other business model under the co-ops).

Award

Award is based on reimbursement basis and subject to the applicant attaining a minimum pass grade for each semester, term or module.

  1. Diploma program (eligible for local polytechnics)
    • Quantum of award:
      • For Finance, banking & accounting program
      • Nett course fee (after govt subsidies where applicable), capped at maximum $6,000 per award per year
    • For the other relevant program:
      • Nett course fees (after govt subsidies), capped at maximum $5,000 per award per year
      • Maximum 2 awards per year
  2. Degree / Professional program (eligible for local universities & professional body, e.g. ACCA, CIMA)
    • Quantum of award:
      • For Finance, banking & accounting degree program (including professional accounting courses such as ACCA, CIMA, etc.)
      • Nett course fee (after govt subsidies where applicable), capped at maximum $10,000 per award per year
    • For the other relevant programme:
      • Nett course fees (after govt subsidies), capped at maximum $8,000 per award per year

Condition of award

  • Recipient  of  the  award, must remain in the employment of the co-op and upon graduation must continue to  remain in the employment of an active co-operative for half the number of years sponsored
  • Non-compliance of  the above condition, the co-op is required to compensate theequivalent of actual award granted with a 10% compound interest per year to CCF/SNCF.
