It started in 1973, when NTUC FairPrice Co-operative aspired to be Singapore’s leading world-class retailer with a heart. In a short span of 38 years, it is already on the fast track to realise that. Today, NTUC FairPrice Co-operative is one of the leading chains of supermarkets in Singapore, with more than 250 outlets across the island.
From one modest supermarket, NTUC FairPrice Co-operative has expanded to become a multi-format retailer: FairPrice Finest, FairPrice Xtra, FairPrice Xpress, FairPrice Online, and Cheers convenience stores, serving the varied needs and interests of people from all walks of life.

NTUC FairPrice Co-operative launched a number of initatives such as the Everyday Low Price Items, GST Absorption Programme, 2% Discount to Elderly on Tuesdays, and Yellow Dot Items. NTUC FairPrice Co-operative has also championed its social cause to help people in need, with programmes such as the FairPrice Food Voucher Scheme, Share-a-Textbook Project, and support of the Boys’ Brigade Share a Gift Project.
On a global scale, NTUC FairPrice Co-operative has contributed, whether in raising funds or providing essential food staples and essentials, towards the China Earthquake Relief Effort in 2008, the Pakistan Earthquake in 2005, the Asian Tsunami in 2004, the Avian Flu in 2004 and the SARS in 2003.
NTUC FairPrice Co-operative has created such an extensive positive social impact that even non-members stand to benefit its overflow of goodness. Apart from serving its members and customers with all the perks and value add of shopping at all outlets, it also serves the needs of the community by launching and supporting many programmes in aid of helping those in need. With a strong social cause, NTUC FairPrice Co-operative has since attracted 1.5 million shoppers every week and with more than 9,000 employees, accounting for its strong base of memberships.
NTUC Fairprice Co-operative provides greater value and savings through its partnership with NTUC Link, by awarding customers with LinkPoints since 1999. Every year, more than 500,000 NTUC FairPrice Co-operative members will also get attractive rebates for their purchases. Between 2008 and 2011, members enjoyed an average of $30 million in rebates annually.
